DETECTIVES from Brisbane Water Local Area Command are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the arrest of a man for alleged sex offences.
The man, 32,was arrested at Gosford Railway Station on March 21 this year and has been charged. He will face Gosford Local Court on Friday.
Detective Senior Constable Steven Norton said inquiries have led them to believe there may be further people involved in, or who witnessed, similar incidents that may have occurred involving rail commuters travelling between Gosford and Chatswood railways stations. These people may be able to assist police in relation to these matters.
“It appears that young intellectually/developmentally delayed women aged in their 20s who have attended the Gosford Railway Station earlier this year have been targeted,” Detective Senior Constable Norton said.
“Also, historical police intelligence suggests that women with similar disabilities were attacked at Chatswood Railway Station several years ago.
“I am hoping not only to reach further people who may have been subjected to attacks, but possibly their carers, families or witnesses who may hold vital information that can assist police.”
Some of the attacks may date back as far as 2003, he said.
“We are encouraging anyone with information or who may have been involved to come forward by contacting Gosford Police Station on 3223 5469 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
