Northlakes host Terrigal in match of the round

03 Jul, 2009 11:46 AM
TERRIGAL travels to Slade Park at Budgewoi tomorrow to take on Northlakes in the Central Coast rugby union match of the round.

Wet weather cancellations and byes have meant that Terrigal has not played much rugby in recent weeks.

But Terrigal will need to be at their best as they face a team which is playing good rugby, had a great win last week, and are at home.

Northlakes have much pace out wide and are always a threat if they can obtain good possession from their forwards. Northlakes also know they are in fourth spot on the ladder and a win tomorrow could see them really threaten for a semi-final spot.

Northlakes must defeat the leading teams if they are to contend for a finals berth and this is one such game. Terrigal will go into this clash a little nervous because they are playing away from home and may be under-done.

On paper, Terrigal are favourites.

They have a good all-round team and certainly have the backs to trouble Northlakes.

Gosford, meanwhile, will be at home to Ourimbah at Showground Rugby Field.

Gosford will go into this clash as firm favourites but any game between these two sides is always played with passion.

Ourimbah are out of the picture in terms of the semi-final race but will try to unsettle a Gosford team which is currently undefeated.

Gosford were solid last week against Woy Woy and will meet a side with similar strengths as Woy Woy. Ourimbah have a very solid forward pack but have in recent weeks found it difficult to convert territorial advantage into points.

Gosford are on top of the table and this position has been achieved through some excellent team rugby since the start of the competition. This will be am interesting game but it is difficult to see Gosford being defeated in this clash.

Woy Woy travel to Kariong Oval to take on Kariong.

Both teams are playing very good rugby but it is Kariong who are winning their games and Woy Woy who are continually always getting close.

The first round encounter between these two sides was a nail-biter and Kariong only just got home in the final few minutes.

Woy Woy last week were most impressive against Gosford and troubled them for the entire 80 minutes. Kariong had an easy win but they will find this match a far tougher occasion than they did last week.

In the final match of the round, Avoca Beach plays The Entrance at Joseph Banks Oval and the visitors should record a convincing win.

Avoca Beach had their game called off last week and the only consolidation from that will be that all of their players will be freshened up.

The Entrance are a far more formidable team at home but they will find Avoca Beach an impossible task.
