HUNDREDS of Central Coast students are in final preparations for the 2009 Rock Eisteddfod Challenge and J Rock Newcastle.
The events will be staged at the Newcastle Civic Theatre next Wednesday, July 8.
Months of seriously hard work are about to pay off for the dedicated students, teachers, family and friends involved in this year’s events.
“Central Coast schools have had a strong and extremely successful history within the 30 years of the event, never failing to deliver high calibre performances,” event manager Mikaela Dockrill said.
“In 2009 Central Coast schools make up almost half of those performing at Newcastle, the biggest regional event on the 2009 tour.”
Lisarow High School will be the longest participating Central Coast school at the Newcastle event, having first performed in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge in 1993.
Wadalba Community School will participate for the first time this year.
Wyong Creek School will perform in J Rock, the junior division of the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge designed specifically for primary school students.
J Rock aims to promote creativity and teamwork while educating students on the benefits of a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
“Through J Rock primary school students have the opportunity to experience just how fun being fit and staying active in a team environment can be,” Ms Dockrill said.
Though not performing at Newcastle, students from Woy Woy Public School will travel to Sydney next week to take part in the 2009 Sydney J Rock on Friday, July 10. For tickets, phone 4974 2174 or go to www.ticketek.com.au.
