SHADOW Minister for the Central Coast Chris Hartcher has accused the State Government of incompetence and having an obsession with spin over its handling of works on the F3 Freeway.
Mr Hartcher said delays to widening of vital parts of the F3 for more than a year were costing Central Coast motorists valuable time because they were forced to slow down.
"On Nine News tonight, Transport Minister David Campbell failed to adequately justify why the works are so late," Mr Hartcher said.
"Making matters worse is the fact that same lanes of the road appear ready to drive on, but are still closed off to traffic.
"This raises questions about whether the State and Federal Labor governments are holding off opening the road so it can maximise media coverage."
Shadow Minister for Roads Andrew Stoner said more than 70,000 motorists drove on the F3 daily.
“Transport Minister David Campbell has failed to explain why there has been such an outrageous delay," Mr Stoner said.
"State Labor is incapable of getting infrastructure right.
“Drivers are outraged that sections of the road appear ready to drive on, but are still closed to traffic with drivers forced to reduce their speed, most likely so State Labor can hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“Motorists driving to and from the Central Coast have to put up with delays most days and things always seem to go wrong on the F3 when holidays come around."
Mr Chris Hartcher said people on the Central Coast needed change.
“For 14 years, State Labor has had their turn and they have a record of failure,” he said.
A Liberal Government would deliver services and infrastructure, including on the F3, Mr Hartcher said.
